Jonathan Dane is the Co-Founder of Defiant Capital Group and leads the firm. As Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer, he orchestrates the firm’s strategic direction and manages all facets of the firm’s investment strategy, ranging from portfolio construction and manager due diligence to the deployment of client capital.
Jonathan’s career spans both sell-side and buy-side roles, as well as advisory positions for high-net-worth and ultra-high net worth families and institutions. He brings deep expertise in deploying capital across publicly traded and privately held businesses, liquid and illiquid funds, and guiding clients through complex wealth transfers, business exits, and M&A transitions.
Before founding Defiant Capital Group, Jonathan was Director of Portfolio Strategy & Research at a multi-family office overseeing $900 million in assets. He started his career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and Jefferies in New York City, and in 2019 was named one of CityWire’s 40 Rising Stars Under 40.
Jonathan is also a recognized voice in the financial press, regularly featured in major outlets such as Barron’s, Kiplinger, and MarketWatch, where he shares insights on markets, investing, and wealth strategy for business owners and affluent families.
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, a CFA Charterholder and a CFP Professional.
